The Pella,IA adventure

My sister and her husband came to town recently. While they were here I decided to take mom and sis on an "adventure". We traveled about an hour southeast of Des Moines to a small Dutch town called Pella. I have been there a few times on business but never got the opportunity to visit the the town square and take part in all of the shopping opportunities it offers. ( I will admit that I have made it to the bakery in the past for a quick in and out but that is the extent of it.)

Our first stop was a quiet little tea room for lunch. After that the three of us enjoyed the afternoon seeing the sights and visiting the shops as we traversed the square.
A goal of mine was to get a photo of the new Windmill the town has recently erected. It is quite a sight in person and I am not sure this picture really does it justice....Sister dear was able to capture a few fun sights with her camera also and has them posted on her blog. (chimprints.blogspot.com)Point of interest....the small white building on the bottom left....Wyatt Earp once slept there.

We then walked down the street next to the Windmill and saw a big beautiful building that turned out to be the Royal Amsterdam Hotel. Just behind the Hotel was a water walk-way with beautiful flowers and lovely benches to sit on and take in the sights. We decided to walk the path and although I don't have any pictures of the waterway....I did get some florals along the way.

Our last stop was the bakery where we thought we would buy everything in sight....but decided not to. It was really hard to narrow our choices down to just a few items.

After supper that evening we enjoyed bite sized pieces of some of the different treats we brought home with us. It was a perfect ending to a perfect day.

Thanks mom and Barb for joining in with me on the "Adventure"!
